Photoshop Pictorialism

  • Using Adobe photoshop to create a dramatic yet textured affect
By using photoshop you can manipulate an image to look completely different to its original state creating an illusion. The illusion i have tried to achieve involves the subject of pictorialism (19th century) images taken from the 21st century and then combined with a textured image to create a paint affect.

This is the base image that i have used. I then took photos of different textures from buildings that i could use to overlay this original image to create that pictorial affect

This is the image i will be using as the 'textured' layer that will overlay the base image. Taken of a brick wall around campus

Creating layers, brightness/contrast adjustments, black and white affects i have achieved 'overlaying' both images together with an opacity of 80% to keep the brick texture.
Final outcome
